The Company

The Santander Group is the main financial group in Spain and second in Europe, with a strong presence in Europe and Latin America. The branch office in Argentina has more than 5,000 employees and is a leading provider of financial services for retail and wholesale banking in all the country.

The problem: communications + document management + team collaboration

The bank needed to speed up and make more efficient its internal top down and between pairs communication, and facilitate the access to the necessary documentation for the daily management for all the employees. Also, collaboration tools were added so that the different work groups could have self-managed portals to make their work more productive.

Rionet. The employee´s community

Rionet is made of a network of dynamic portals with tools and contents such as news, activities, contact information from employees, reference documents, forms, manuals and marketing material from products, management reports, etc.

Users that collaborate with contents can load and edit the contents in a distributed and audited way.

The system includes a library with dozens of types of predefined structured contents, organized in four groups: Documents, Activities, Communications, People and Organizations

The publishing console allows to diagram and to manage the publishing in private or public sites in a dynamic way without the need of programming.

It allows to diagram the structure and navigation of the site, define menus, pages, sections, segments, and publish the contents in a direct way or by rules, such as publishing date, relevance, etc.

This way hundreds of sites exist, from Area sites such as HR, Foreign Trade, Commercial Banking, Legals, Systems, Knowledge Base, to private sites where groups of users can work on their projects, sharing files, interacting, etc.

Personalization is present at every level, from the whole organization to each employee with the contents they have to receive, and at the same time each person from the organization has their own customized management and communication space in the Intranet.

Information Access, Navigation and Discovery

The search service is another key component of Rionet. It offers global and specialized search components of high quality so that each user can easily find what they need no matter how big and complex the Intranet is. kbee.spaces integrates in the Intranet all the content and information sources of the organization. This way, access, search and indexing of all the information is possible from every application.

Searching is an interactive process between the user and the system. The user can search and then narrow the results by the different categories of the classification system in the order they want, or either browse one or many categories and then do a text search in the resultant set.

The search forms and relevance can specialize for each type of resource.

The full-text search engine allows the search of free text inside documents. It comes with:

• Optimized relevance algorithm (it considers the context information, contents of documents, classification, etc)
• Retrieval by phonetic and syntactic similarity
• Logical expressions: AND , OR , NOT (-), *, RELATIONS BY ASSOCIATION,-CONSECUTIVE PROXIMITY OF TWO OR MORE TERMS, etcetera.
• Full-text search within dozens of file types (PDF, MS Word, Excel, ppt, HTML, etc.)
• Scalability for large scale content spaces
• Multi-language dictionary for " did you mean:? "
• It includes stemming (word root index for greater retrieval efficiency).
• It is multi-language.

The optimized relevance algorithm adjusts to your information model, adequately considering what it finds inside the documents with the classifiying information, plus the semantic recovery over the Theme Areas.

Community

Rionet includes tools focused on the users and their interaction in the internal community, such as Clippings, Comments, Ratings, Tag clouds, etc.
